Hello, I’m Karen. I’m a registered nurse and accredited alcohol coach.
In my 40s I found that shifts like poor sleep, hangxiety and low energy were telling me that drinking was starting to cause more stress than it was relieving.
Like many midlife women, I was finding that drinking no longer felt right for me. An increased reliance on that wind-down drink, even though I knew it would affect my physical and mental wellbeing. Negative thoughts at 3am were not a great way to start the day.
But I was stuck in a habit cycle.
At some point in our life, it can seem like alcohol is no longer giving the same kind of relaxation it used to and yet it can seem unimaginable to socialise or manage stress without it.
When drinking habits shift, your nervous system adapts long before you realise that alcohol is no longer working for you, and this makes it challenging to quit.
When drinking is a regular part of your life, the relationship with alcohol can move towards a middle space. This is where you don’t think you’re dependent, but you're no longer happy with your drinking and how it’s affecting other areas of your life.
Grey area or middle lane drinking is not problematic enough to require a recovery programme, but enough to create a feeling of misalignment. Working with a coach can give you the extra support and confidence you need to achieve the change you want.

It’s not always easy to be alcohol free in a society that promotes drinking, but I value my calm mornings, a clear head and alignment with how I want to live as I get older.
Drawing on my personal experience, nursing, and teaching skills, I became a coach to support others who want to change their drinking and rediscover what they really value in their life.
I am trained, accredited, and fully insured as a life coach specialising in alcohol change.
My coaching guides you through taking a break from drinking and navigating early sobriety alongside nervous system regulation, understanding the role drinking has in your life and deciding what else needs to change.

We won’t be focusing on restriction, counting down or missing out. Instead we will be understanding your triggers and practise a different response to routines, while you take a break from alcohol.
With my support, you will begin to rely less on alcohol, and rediscover how good your body and mind can feel - alcohol free.
